Let one of our experts help you choose the right EV charger for you.

Western Australia has witnessed a notable uptake in electric vehicles (EVs) over the last few years. This trend can be attributed to several factors, including that EVs produce lower emissions compared to conventional internal combustion engine vehicles, and that EV owners can benefit from saving money on fuel, reduced maintenance costs and higher performance in many instances.

Do you have an electric vehicle or are you planning to get one soon? You will need to consider installing an EV home charger.

EV Home Charger Options

Since most electric vehicles are parked in the home garage overnight, this is the most practical location to install an EV charger.

Did you know that the Tesla Model 3, for example, sometimes includes a 10amp or 15amp plug. The 10amp plug can fit into any home wall socket. This provides around 12 km of range per hour of charge. So, if you were to plug your EV in at 6pm and leave it charging until you leave the next morning at 7am, your car would have 13 hours of charge at 12 km/h. That equates to only about 156 km of charge. Therefore, it might take 2 or 3 nights to fully charge your Tesla Model 3. So, it will take roughly 40 hours for your EV to charge fully. This also depends on the size of the battery and the model of the car. On the other hand, the 15amp plug will charge at around 22 km/h.

For the best home charging experience, we recommend installing a Wall Connector. This provides an EV charge point that’s installed directly into your wall rather than a standalone charging station for easier and more convenient vehicle charging.

The charger needed will depend on whether you have a single-phase or three-phase. See the below examples:

Single Phase – 7kW EV Charger, chargers at about 45km per hour and take about 11 hours to fully charge

Three Phase – 22kW EV Charger, chargers at about 111km per hour and take about 4.5 hours to fully charge
